It was branded as the “heavyweight” fight of the year until Cathy thought that term might give people the wrong impression about her weight, so now we’re referring to it as the Super Featherweight fight of the year! Regardless, Cathy went in today for her first round of chemo. Here she is all chipper and ready to go:

Cathy’s first day of chemo! Not pictured: her adorable Dora-The-Explorer backpack and matching lunch box set. Editors Note: check out those sweet, hip new glasses!
Like a true champ, she took down all 5 drugs without any problem and we were out of there a few hours earlier than expected. The first drug, an immunotherapy regiment, typically causes adverse side effects while being administered, but like with many other things, Cathy decided that “normal” didn’t apply to her, and she siphoned it down like a criminal stealing gas. And no side effects to speak of so far!
Things that went well today: Everything!!!!
Things that could have been better: Glenn complained that the chair he was sitting in wasn’t very comfortable.
She’s at home now “resting.” And by “resting” I mean she’s definitely not resting, because she feels great and we’re still not convinced that Cathy knows how to rest. We know that there will be bad days ahead, but this definitely wasn’t one of them! Stay tuned for further updates!
Cathy, you look wonderful! What spirit and strength you show… Our thoughts and prayers are with you each day-
Much love, Alice and Rick
