Well folks, it finally happened. For almost thirty years Cathy whimsically claimed, “my kids are making me lose my hair.” And now, after crying wolf for so long, her kids literally made her lose her hair! Okay fine, she told us to cut it off, but still, it’s true. Here’s proof:

A Tale of Two Faces: Glenn looks maniacally happy wielding those scissors, while Cathy looks…ummm…. slightly nervous because Glenn is wielding said scissors

Apparently Cathy’s chemo-enhanced, biological clock is almost perfectly synched with the Vernal Equinox, and like many of nature’s creatures, she decided to totally shed her winter coat right around the first day of Spring.

I know what you’re all wondering: Well, what does she look like in the after photo?!?!?! Okay, okay, I’m getting there. Ready? Drum roll, please…..

Getting Closer….

Whoa!!!!!

conehead

Just kidding, you guys.

No, she doesn’t have a cone-head. For the record, her skull has a normal, perfectly natural shape to it. But we did find something upon freeing her scalp from a lifetime of coverage. Something that not even Cathy knew existed. A birth mark, on the back of her head, that resembles a very recognizable shape. Take a look:

Could finding an unexpected symbol – a symbol typically associated with courage, love, and not to mention its ties to the blood – at the end of a sad, somewhat scary, and uncertain event – like chopping off your own hair – be a parable with a deeper parallel to this whole cancer fight? I don’t know, maybe something like, “what lies beneath a stuggle can surprise and inspire?” Nah, that’s silly. The delivery stork probably just bit down too hard many years ago…

I leave you with two things. First, a nice little family selfie of the main Crusader herself, along with her barber shop attendants.

And second, the definitive, rank-ordered list of badass, bald women:

  1. Cathy Laatsch
  2. Sigourney Weaver in Alien 3
  3. Demi Moore in GI Jane
  4. Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta
  5. Sinead O’Connor – before the whole Pope picture ripping thing
